Did you know that when you signup for Gmail your new mailbox comes with an additional alias? This alias while technically longer than just using Gmail.com does have a professional business-like appeal. You can even tell others that your email address is YourName@GoogleMail.com if you like.
On the topic of email aliases for your Gmail account, you should be aware of another interesting Gmail trick. That is the usage of periods in your Gmail email address are ignored. In other words, if you were composing a new email to a friend with the Gmail email address email@example.com you could address the email as any of the following email addresses and it would deliver just the same as it would if you addressed it as firstname.lastname@example.org.
I think you get the idea. Not really sure why the period trick is there or how it could be useful but it’s nice to know that it exists. So whether or not you are using Gmail now or if you plan on signing up sometime soon, remember that if you prefer you can use email@example.com instead of the default firstname.lastname@example.org.
